How the Broncos together with their malleable quarterback could halt the Kansas City Chiefs' dominance.

NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features text commentary of Sunday's games on multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard on select stations for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the football calendar , following recent talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.

Striking in those games was the amount of infractions both committed. Philadelphia did so at crucial times meaning they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period versus Denver, set to play in London this weekend.

But it proved good to see that Denver quarterback the rookie managed to have that deficit before lead three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory by four points.

Denver have the defensive player of the year in CB Pat Surtain II. They are first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and Denver won that battle.

They had the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing extra pass rushers but they might plug two LBs in the interior before drop them out and send a nickel off the edge.

At the start in the campaign, we said on a program that the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season well and did a good job of building upon that.

Could Denver be this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has excelled significantly and new running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).

I love that the coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.

That shows that Denver are a team that wants to run first, since you can achieve much off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush and keeps you in positive down and distances.

This has helped QB the young passer, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to throw all over, however they don't move in the same way as Nix. He has incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he's highly agile.

His assets are his mobility, being able to pass while moving, as well as finding different arm angles to make throws as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to throw precision throws across the middle or past defenders.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got a lot of composure under pressure and is not bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and can pass in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and remains very decisive.

If you constantly run the ball it eats up time and makes the defence to be on the field extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defense must cover the area downfield and horizontally. It can be draining.

Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and it seems the coach appreciates that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback that is kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really build something up the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a special experience for him.

The head coach owns a championship and has surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the achievements Denver are having offensively is largely down to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB helps shape him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they strong enough to face an elite team at its best? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're working above average, which is a good place to be in their division. The key to do is maintain this trajectory.

They excel at embracing their forte, which is running the ball, and this is exactly what they must do versus the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win a game.

Since the league began tracking turnovers in 1933, this team are the first team to be without any turnovers in five outings, this is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.

The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the West.

It depends on which form Kansas City shows up they face since Denver {beat|def
