Renowned Performer Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at 60 Years Old.

American performer Finn, who featured in popular TV shows including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in LA on Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives stated in a announcement.

They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive Television Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous popular shows, like:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Away from his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, peer Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he shared on social media.
