One of the co-founders behind the famous ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's has stated that parent company the multinational conglomerate stopped the launch for a new pro-Palestinian ice cream flavor.

Ben Cohen, that established the business with his partner, announced that he plans to personally create this new flavor within an individual collection highlighting causes the company was barred from addressing publicly.

Longstanding Dispute Involving Creators versus Parent Company

This latest announcement escalates the continuing conflict among the internationally recognized dessert company and its corporate parent, the British consumer goods giant which acquired Ben & Jerry's for over two decades.

Both founders have claimed how Unilever along with their ice cream division Magnum unlawfully blocked their company from "fulfilling its ethical commitments".

Watermelon Flavor becoming an Emblem of Solidarity

Mr. Cohen revealed through an Instagram video how he's developing a new watermelon-based sorbet, asking for public suggestions for naming options and potential ingredients.

“I'm accomplishing what they were prevented from doing,” Mr. Cohen declared from his kitchen. “I'm creating a watermelon-flavored ice cream that calls for lasting ceasefire for Palestinians and calls for addressing the harm that was done there.”

The watermelon has become a symbol of solidarity with Palestinians because of its coloration, that mirror the colors in Palestine's national banner – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Previous Social Engagement plus Current Developments

Several years ago, Ben & Jerry's ceased sales of their merchandise in areas under Israeli control, leading to Unilever transferring the Israeli operation to a local licensee, thus allowing ongoing distribution within the occupied West Bank.

This upcoming dessert series will be created through Mr. Cohen's personal brand, the socially conscious ice cream brand that was first established several years back for endorsing former US presidential candidate Bernie Sanders with the product "Bernie's Back".

Management Changes plus Future Plans

Mr. Cohen revealed how he will develop additional ice cream flavors focusing on issues that the company was silenced from speaking about openly due to corporate restrictions.

This development comes after partner Jerry Greenfield stepped down his position at Ben & Jerry's in September, after many years with the organization, mentioning concerns regarding how the company's autonomy was compromised after corporate moves to restrict its social activism.

Previously, Mr. Cohen commented that "Jerry has strong compassion and the ongoing dispute with our parent company was deeply distressing him."

"My heart compels me to continue to work within the organization to advocate for its independence so that the company can achieve the social mission, the values which established its foundation and has maintained for over 40 years," he explained to media outlets.
