The President Calls Relatives of Injured Military Soldiers to the White House

President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the family of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told journalists. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid law enforcement in Washington DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the press. “She was caring, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Actions and Government Changes

Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the administration to pause asylum processing and cease issuing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to visit his relatives.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with honor, according to the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had bravery,” the governor informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
