The Renowned Musician Urges Support to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign hopes to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It has a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.
The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The track blends a combination of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The team running the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a figure explained. “We aim for whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is above all making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”
The song is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from later in the month.
